Mombasa County – Immersive Mombasa

Fallohide collaborated with Mombasa County to deliver Immersive Mombasa, a flagship XR storytelling project designed to highlight the city’s heritage, creativity, and identity through cinematic 360° films.

The project produced three thematic experiences:

Water & Wind – capturing Mombasa’s relationship with the sea and coast.

Memory & Legacy – telling the story of centuries-old resilience through Fort Jesus, Old Town, and daily life.

Identity & Imagination – celebrating creativity and youth innovation, from Pembe za Ndovu to Swahilipot Hub.

These immersive films were showcased at the Devolution Conference, drawing strong interest from leaders of over 20 counties and gaining enthusiastic feedback from Mombasa’s own CECM for Tourism and other officials.

Beyond tourism promotion, the project also demonstrated how counties can leverage XR for cultural preservation, economic growth, and international visibility. With its success, Immersive Mombasa established Mombasa County as a pioneer in applying Extended Reality to governance and development.
